Rittal - World's most energy-efficient compact cooling unit

In 2016, Rittal introduced the most energy-efficient cooling unit for control cabinets ever: the RittalBlue e+. Now Rittal introduces you to the newest member of the family: the compact Blue e+ S cooling unit with a smaller capacity.

Compact variant

Blue e+ S cooling units are available in three power classes: 300, 500 and 1000 W. A 750 W variant will follow later. Previously, there were cooling units of this size in our range, but they cooled in a traditional way. With the Blue e+ S, we have developed a series that is much more energy-efficient, thanks to speed-controlled cooling and heat pipe technology.

75% energy savings

Chillers with proven Blue e+ technology are the world's most energy-efficient cooling units. This is due to the speed-controlled compressor and fans as well as patented heat pipe technology: a passive way to dissipate heat without additional energy consumption. On average, the Blue e+ S cooling units thus achieve energy savings of 75%. Not insignificant at a time when energy prices continue to rise and CO2 reduction is socially desirable. The investment in the Blue e+ S therefore pays for itself quickly.

Plug & Play

A second difference from traditional cooling units is the fact that the Blue e+ S cooling units are multi-applicable thanks to the unique multi-voltage support. The cooling unit itself recognises the voltage and converts it to the voltage it needs internally. This is a big difference from the traditional variant where you have to choose between a 115 or 230 Volt version. With the Blue e+ S, we bring those options down to one. In addition, the Blue e+ S cooling units have the option of connecting an I.o.T. module. This allows you to create a network of several cooling units and then monitor them remotely. The cabinet temperature, cooling capacity, energy consumption and any warnings can thus be viewed at any time.

Brand new design

Blue e+ S cooling units have a very modern appearance thanks to the vertical louvers (slats). For operation of the system, there is a 'home button' and two 'up & down' buttons. The full-colour touch display of 'big brother' Blue e+ has deliberately not been implemented from a functional point of view. Adjusting settings is also possible via the handy Rittal Scan & Service app available for the Blue e+ S cooling units for both Android and Apple.

Rittal - Cable glands increase safety even in extreme conditions
The importance of cable glands is sometimes underestimated. Wrongly so, because in many industries they contribute substantially to the proper functioning of operating equipment. The right cable gland protects any enclosure from quite threatening external influences such as dust and moisture. In extreme conditions such as arctic cold or tropical heat, it is the heavy duty cable glands made of nickel-plated brass or stainless steel that make the difference. Even bases, acids and chemicals hold them back. Glands ensure safe passage of cables through panels to and from appliances. They can insulate cabinets, provide earthing and strain relief, and protect against electromagnetic interference. There are also cable glands specially made to withstand severe explosions or to provide sealing under water.

    Rittal cooling units BlueE+ S
The Blue E+ S range of cooling units has now been now extended with 4 coolers which, despite having capacities of only 300, 500, 780 and 1000 watts, nevertheless have the same built-in hybrid refrigeration technology as the larger units. This combination of heat pipe- and inverter technology reduces the CO2 footprint by allowing energy savings of up to 75%. At low ambient temperatures, the heat pipe dissipates heat and reduces heat loss in the cabinet with the active cooling circuit switched off, thus keeping energy consumption very low. When cooling demand increases, however, this is met by activating an inverter-controlled cooling circuit. Together, this provides a cooling capacity perfectly matched to demand. The use of the refrigerant R-513A further reduces the CO2 footprint because its GWP (Global Warming Potential) is about 56% lower than that of traditional refrigerants.

Stimac - Good technical support for ever-changing specifications
If the description for an automation project is clear from the start, it is easy for the industrial automation specialist to give it substance. In practice, however, specifications often change during the course of a project. This happened to Stimac/SNK when designing the control technology for a horticultural machine. For the problems that arose during the process, itsme quickly provided Stimac/SNK with a solution. “When a customer calls us, we respond immediately. So it’s nice to have a supplier like itsme who can also help immediately.”
