Festo launches new valve island: VTUX

The VTUX sets new standards in terms of materials, modularity and communication. The successor to the proven CPV, MPA-L, MPA-S and VTUG series convinces with its high flow rate. And with the communication system AP-I and AP-A, VTUX is the perfect platform for digitized production!

Thanks to internal communication, the modules can be arranged as desired. This offers maximum freedom in valve terminal design.

Machine concepts come first

The VTUX is clearly matched to the control architecture of the machine - it always fits!

Communication

AP communication technology ensures very easy connections, even over long distances, as if all system participants were in the same place.

Easy to use

Hose connections? Easy to configure! Even the insertion fittings can be configured to the desired hose diameter, saving space and ensuring optimized air flows. You can also define as many pressure zones as you want.

Deployable everywhere

Not only can the VTUX be used with short compressed air lines, but it also has a lightweight design, making it ideal for use on front-end units, such as a gantry or robotic arm.

Highlights

The valve terminal VTUX marks the beginning of a new era in valve terminals. Its features make VTUX a valve terminal platform of the future:

  • AP technology from Festo, the new technology standard for communication, ensures lower costs and at the same time higher performance.
  • Integrated: the prerequisites for safety designs, predictive maintenance and for data exchange with the cloud in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT).
  • Compact and lightweight: this saves space and weight in the machine and increases productivity through faster cycle times. The simple and modular design enables fast assembly and commissioning.
  • The low weight, very compact dimensions and flexible connection options are ideal for decentralized machine concepts.

    Festo - SFAM
Because the SFAM is a pressure and flow sensor in one, machines need only one component to measure multiple values. By measuring compressed air pressure, flow and consumption, among other things, the SFAM provides full insight into the compressed air system. This insight is the first step in a more economical, safe and sustainable system.

Festo - Proportional pressure control valve VPPI
With the VPPI proportional pressure control valve, all nominal sizes are controlled directly; without the need for pilot valves or pre-stages. Due to the pressure compensating element, the valve regulates dynamically and accurately; even at the larger nominal sizes. The powerful and low-friction voice coil makes the VPPI highly dynamic. The integrated position controller contributes to high stability.

    A simple combination
Pneumatics are still the tool of choice for simple motion and positioning tasks. However, in an increasingly digitized world, electrical automation and a continuous flow of information from the workpiece to the control system and to the cloud is becoming indispensable. With the Simplified Motion Series, Festo offers an automation solution that bridges the gap between easy-to-install pneumatics and flexible electrical automation.

Signal 64 - Boon Edam - Access to VMI and a large assortment.
Boon Edam, known for its revolving doors and turnstiles, picked itsme as their main electrical components supplier last year. The large product range and the vendor managed inventory (VMI) solution for the grab stock of electrical assembly materials were the deciding factors. “When you install VMI, you actually do it forever.”

    Sissing Noord - Commissioning Frequency
Sissing Noord in Leek (Groningen) is an expert in the maintenance, renovation and construction of “wet” infrastructure, like movable bridges, pumping stations and locks. For the drives of these structures, itsme supplies the speed drives and, where necessary, also the technical know-how. For projects where Sissing Noord needs this knowledge, specialist itsme offers “some relief”.

Connected Business - Vendor Managed Inventory
The Lean improvement method distinguishes eight waste categories. One of these is 'inventory'. Too much stock is not good, but neither is too little. After all, having stock also provides the safe feeling of availability in times of uncertain internal planning and external factors that cannot be directly influenced. Because optimising availability both in one's own company and in the supply chain is often not the core competence of our customers, itsme can take over the care of such optimisation, for example through the import and management of so-called Vendor Managed Inventory systems. But, how do you know whether VMI is indeed the right solution? Ralph van Aartsen can answer that crucial question - using five questions. Here, in advance, are his answers to our questions on VMI.
